Rick is a graduate of Duquesne University and a licensed professional counselor. He has years of advanced training in Psychodynamic, Gestalt and Cognitive/Dialectical therapies. As a certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP-II) with the International Association of Trauma Professionals (IATP), Rick specializes in work with early-life abuse and neglect. Decades of trauma intervention experience include field response to traumatic events with Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) teams for police and emergency responders involved in on-duty deaths and lethal encounters.
In addition to trauma work, Rick’s secondary graduate training at both Duquesne and Pitt universities focused on marriage and family. Over 30 years of work with domestic violence/abuse include training of police response to domestic violence, as well as therapy for victims. Rick also counsels couples with problems with communication, chemical and behavioral addictions, anger, infidelity, intimacy, and “lifestyle” conflicts.
Therapeutic interventions are tailored specifically to the needs and preferences of each client from a wide variety of the most effective modern and traditional approaches, including hypnotherapy. Depression, anxiety, panic, PTSD and personality disorders often respond well to a combination of psychodynamic, cognitive/dialectical and body/brain interventions.
